Turner enjoys making stools, and he has made many of these two styles. Stools are generally useful items that consume little real estate, considering their functionality. A wonderful place to store transient mail, a place to kick your feet up, or, for those more traditionally minded, a place to sit for a time.
Seating generally is most comfortable if the seat height is roughly 12 inches below the surface being used, whether a table, a counter or a bar. Thus, the Small Stool is build at 17 inches, appropriate for use at a kitchen table (or for putting on your socks and shoes), while the Step Stool (easily made without steps, especially as part of a set) is made at 24 inches, quite comfortable at an overhanging kitchen counter. Stools can be made at any reasonable height, depending upon intended usage. All of the structural stool joints are wedged through tenons, including both the seat to leg, and leg to stretcher unions. This provides a long useful life without the annoyance of loose rungs prevalent on production-made seating.
