Modern Queen Anne Table
Made with traditional materials, but in an uncommon form, this is a modern version of a Queen Anne end or bedside table. The base is a traditional mahogany, and the top a single wide plank of curly, or tiger, maple. On this example the leg has been designed to emphasize movement, suggesting perhaps a capering animal. In fact, the word “cabriole” is from the French – to leap. The mahogany is colored to complement the highly figured top. A single drawer, appropriate for the bedroom, might not be needed in a living room piece.
